150th Anniversary of Lincoln's Assassination

On April 14, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was fatally shot; a mere five days after Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered his army at Appomattox Court House in Virginia, an event that marked the end of the American Civil War.

Today is the 150th anniversary of the assassination of President Lincoln. Lincoln was special to the entire nation, but especially important to the State of Illinois. Today in the “Land of Lincoln,” Rep. Andersson and other legislators gathered to commemorate and honor Lincoln’s legacy, and remember all he did for our State.
